How My Dog Treat Journey Started Back in 2005

In 2005, I baked my very first batch of dog treats — not for a business, not for a hobby, but for a dog named Jake.

Jake belonged to one of my mom’s neighbours, and he was having constant allergic reactions. Itchy skin, patches of missing hair, discomfort that no one could figure out. After a lot of trial and error, they finally discovered the cause: a wheat allergy.

Back then, wheat allergies in dogs weren’t talked about the way they are today. But they’re actually more common than people realize. For some dogs, wheat can trigger symptoms like:

• Itchy skin
• Redness
• Hot spots
• Hair loss patches
• Chronic discomfort

Of course, wheat isn’t the only cause of these issues — but for many dogs, it’s one of the hidden triggers.

Seeing Jake struggle was what pushed me into the kitchen. I wanted to make something simple, safe, and gentle for him. Something without wheat, fillers, or the long list of ingredients you can’t pronounce.

That first batch changed everything.

🐶 Why I Still Bake Wheat‑Free Treats Today?

What started with Jake turned into a philosophy I’ve kept for over 19 years:

Keep it clean. Keep it simple. Keep it dog‑friendly.

All of my treats are made with:

• Wheat‑free flour blends
• Limited, human‑grade ingredients
• No chemical preservatives
• No additives like salt
• No fillers or cheap binders

Just real ingredients that dogs love and owners feel good about.

I’ve always believed that treats shouldn’t be complicated. They shouldn’t be packed with things that don’t belong in a dog’s body. And they definitely shouldn’t cause the very problems we’re trying to avoid.

 From One Dog to Many

Jake was the first dog I baked for — but he wasn’t the last. Over the years, I’ve met so many dogs with sensitive stomachs, allergies, or skin issues. And every time, I’m reminded why I started.

A simple treat can make a big difference.

And that’s still what drives me today.
